The
process starts off with a rough outline sketch of a
fish on a single block of bass wood.
The
fish sketch is cut out of the wood and then Charlie whittles
away the edges and carves in the details of the fish. All of
the fins including the tail are hand-carved from wood and
inserted into the body.
Each
fish is sprayed with an undercoating and dried to prepare
them for the final painting.
The
fish are then set into their respective positions in a Manzanita
root stand.
The
fish are then hand-painted, dried and reset into their
final positions.
